You have to commit yourself to a lifelong struggle with anxiety and learn how to create the conditions and the environment you need to manage it effectively. You have to believe in yourself and work to accentuate the positives in your life.

Eat a Healthy Diet

Your diet will affect your mood, your energy levels, your physical shape, and many other things that influence the level at which you experience anxiety. If you feel better about your body, you’ll have more confidence, and it will be harder for anxiety to take control. Eating a diet high in vegetables and protein is a good place to start. So is drinking a lot of water each day. Try to drink a gallon of water each day. It’s great for your skin, your metabolism, and your energy levels. Avoid too much caffeine, sugar, and other harmful foods and cause energy spikes and crashes. Your anxiety will be harder to fight off if you’re struggling already.

Maintain an Exercise Routine

People with anxiety need an outlet to relieve stress and channel their energy into something else. If you’re not focused on something, it’s easy for anxiety to creep in and start to snowball into an anxious episode that wracks your nerves for hours or days. There’s nothing better for that than a good sweat session where you take your mind off whatever is bothering you and clear your head. Exercising is also a terrific way to meet new people and build social relationships. Join a class, find a running group, or sign up at a gym to beat back anxiety.
